I like Arthur Morgan, but I like the version of him that exists in the journal more than the one who exists on-screen. The Arthur Morgan of the journal is one who finds beauty in the landscape, in the people, and in the tragedies of the West. The Arthur Morgan on-screen is a character trope I'm so tired of seeing: the man who kills, but is tired of the killing.
**[Editor’s Note: This editorial will dive into some story spoilers for Red Dead Redemption 2 , so we would suggest coming back to this piece after you have completed the game’s main story and epilogue.] **
It was finding all of the Riddler trophies in Batman: Arkham Knight . For Breath of the Wild , it was completing all the shrines before facing Ganon. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , my favorite part of the game were its fascinating side quests, especially the boxing matches in each region: that all culminated in fighting Skellige’s champion, a straight up bear. All of these goals bubble up and become the most memorable parts of these grandiose games to me.
Red Dead Redemption 2 secrets Dead Online has a unique spin on the "Dead-Eye" ability. While it doesn't slow down time like in single-player, it is still a useful tool . Combat (such as "Dead Eye") and passive abilities can be equipped through the use of Ability Cards. These abilities include things like painting your targets, dealing more damage, or regenerating health. Using Ability Cards properly can make the difference between life and death, therefore, it is essential to use them whenever possi
Red Dead Redemption was the tale of John Marston being forced back into the life of an outlaw due to his family being held hostage by the government. Marston was a man who was tired of killing, but would do it anyway because he wanted his family back and to return to a life of peace. This is curiously repeated in the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption 2 , as you once again take control of Marston as he seeks a peaceful life on the ranch of another only to be forced back into killing.
Ah, camping; the age-old tradition of hiding out of sight until an unfortunate enemy draws near and then BAM, easy kill. While often a great way to ensure your survival, it is also sure to encourage some horrible reactions from other play
A side mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 sees the player interact with a character known as Francis Sinclair. He sends Arthur Morgan on an adventure through the west to find old cave drawings but is very vague as to why he needs this task d
The greatest violation comes when you meet Rain Falls, a Native American chief, in Saint Denis. Having briefly encountered him during a party at the mayor's house, he now seeks your aid to help obtain documents that report an oil reservoir underneath the reservation land. Arthur is, as usual, unwilling to help out until one of them offers payment in return. However it isn't until he begins to compare the persecution his gang faces to the persecution the Native Americans face as somehow equal that he really begins to show his true character.
In-game journals or logs in other games often have the appearance of life, thanks to talented teams, but none feel like living, breathing books like Arthur’s does. Drake’s notes in the Uncharted series are filled with doodles and charm that is signature to Drake’s personality, but its in-game purpose is usually to solve simple puzzles more than to flesh out the characters. During my brief time with Mass Effect , the Codex was easily my favorite bit since it filled out the history of the galaxy, but it lacked a personal anchor point.
In Red Dead Redemption 2 Rockstar attempted to take that statement and remove the mocking tone, presenting the fall of Dutch Van der Linde and the dissolution of his gang as a great tragedy, much like the death of the Old West. They found a way to turn the bad into good, and even then not so convincingly.
Rockstar Games has never been afraid to put in otherworldly things into their games. You will see many examples of this throughout the list, including vampires! The man of the hour is located in Saint-Denis and you will need to complete a mission to find five pieces of graffiti that lead you to the vampire's locat
Almost every random interaction in RDR2 spirals off into some incredible mini-task or goes on to reveal a bit of valuable information. That’s because after all the years put into this game, nothing is truly random. That said, these interactions are worth the time , no matter who it’s with… even a wild cult nestled near Valentine in the Cumberland Forest area. At the very least, it’ll definitely be an interesting time with the turtle-worshipping Cult of Chelonia (Chelonia is actually the name of the genus turtles fit in). Plus, some might think they’re bonkers for their claims about aliens but we know bet
Whether you've seen the credits roll on Arthur Morgan's story, or you've skipped everything and jumped straight online, Red Dead Redemption 2 's 32-player battle royale mode can be a steep challenge. Otherwise known as "Make it Count," the mode features the now-familiar BR formula of a shrinking map and only one victor. This mode, however, is unique from other popular BR modes, such as those seen in Fortnite or Call of Du
