Pretty much everybody in camp will ask Arthur for an item at one point or another, but the best of this mini-quests comes from little Jack. He misses his Penny comic books, but gamers are fortunately able to put a smile back on his f
[pullquote]"Thematically, both Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Assassination of Jesse James focus on a commune of criminals and gang members, led by a charismatic leader who the rest of the gang eventually become disillusioned with." [/pullquote]
Far Cry 5 ranks at the beginning of my list for Game of the Year and it barely made it onto here. Let me tell you a story of how I even came to purchase this title. I'm a bad spender - give me money, it's gone in a week or two. I had money around the time that Far Cry 5 was about to release and I thought "meh, why not" and pre-ordered the game. It's a bad habit; help me. In doing so, I jumped blindly into a series which I had never really touched other than playing Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon at a friend's house in the previous years.
Exactly what the potion does is STILL unclear; it may be the case that it does absolutely nothing at all, but with so many Easter Eggs scattered throughout the game, we can't imagine developers would let this one slide without ANY effec
While at present Red Dead Redemption 2 weapons Dead Redemption 2 is all the hype—not surprising, considering it was a cumulative effort by Rockstar Games over eight long years—let's not forget about its predecessor, 2010's Red Dead Redempti
Deadeye makes quick work of the beast and we get a neat lions paw that makes for a handy-dandy trinket from your fence. Honestly even knowing the lion twist ahead of time, the dialogue and writing in this quest is hilariously charm
Okay, this was a huge change for Call of Duty, at least in the sense that they barely changed any features from previous games. Black Ops 4 removed single-player, one of the series' best elements, and replaced it with Blackout - an awful attempt at battle royale. That said, the multiplayer is surprisingly fun with its new additions such as manually-regenerating health, specialist-based combat, improved mobility and controls, and the change in game-modes.
It's been nearly two months since Red Dead Redemption 2 hit shelves, going above and beyond all expectations and smashing a series of records. Building upon the foundations of gameplay which made the first title such a success, this prequel would offer up one of the greatest narrative experiences that gamers have ever been offered. If you didn't get emotional at least once during your playthrough, you must have a heart of st
By the time I reached Arthur's final decision, one in which you can once again engage in a contradiction by attempting to steal the gang's stash instead of aiding John Marston in his escape, I was already finished. Arthur's death was just another bump in the road in discovering what exactly the epilogue held, as the mystery over who you would play as was much greater than seeing the closing scenes of a character I was done with many hours before.
With so much to do, you'd be forgiven for not uncovering each and every hidden gem contained within the game (especially so now that attention is being diverted to the brilliant Red Dead Online beta that's currently underway). This is where we step
When I entered the kid's room though, I found him crying underneath his bed. When I went to take the cigarette cards, he began pleading with me to leave them as they were all that he had left from his mother. I, as Arthur, killed him in cold blood, thinking it was mercy to spare him a life with a mother gone and a father dead. While I was greatly affected by this, Arthur was unmoved, never uttering a word during the event and never writing about it afterwards. Rockstar saw fit to create unique dialogue for that situation, but not to create a response in Arthur to it. This may just be oversight, but it presented the character as unmoved by the killing he does, despite what he may say to Tilly or Mary-Beth at camp, and what he may write in his journal afterward.
Every time the black bars letterboxed the screen during Red Dead Redemption 2 , I knew that the "video game" portion of this experience was on hold. I couldn't help but feel frustrated that Rockstar (and the game's writers) were plopping a movie in front of me instead. It is relatively obvious that Rockstar's recent games are meant to invoke the feelings of familiar films, but reading and hearing the thoughts from my peers had me realize that many of us—the Housers included—simply have it wrong when analyzing this game's relationship with the Western film genre.
The gameplay, the story, the music, the tone, the setting, the atmosphere, and everything - just everything about God of War is an absolute delight. My issue is that the game ended way too early. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment. Bring it, Sony Santa Monica.
The combat is magnificent when combined with all of the different variations of movements that the player can create; it is an utterly satisfying experience, one in which I keep coming back to. It's rare that an open world game can keep my attention for so long (I have the attention span of a fetus), and Marvel's Spider-Man achieves that magnificently. Well played, Insomniac Games.
