No gaming world has ever felt as real as the world in Red Dead Redemption 2 does. There are literally hundreds of open world games out there, and almost no open world has ever been this fully realized or fun to play around in. Even the bigger games have nothing new to do after the first ten hours. But not Red De
Without any surprise, I greatly want to warn those who have not played the game (what's wrong with you???) that there will be SPOILERS aplenty, so read at your own caution. So let's sift through this brilliant game and point out the things not so brilliant—and that just don't plain make any sense whatsoever. Yeeee-
The wise old gunslinger Landon Ricketts becomes a mentor-like buddy for Marston in the Mexico segment. He’s bitter and elusive about his past in the states, satisfied to be living his existence in the dusty bars of Mexico and going on a bunch of adventures with Mars
I always question what the role of the Western genre, with all of its baggage, can be in this day and age. Regardless of the answer, so many parts of Red Dead Redemption 2 's story felt like a pale imitation of more celebrated examples of the genre. If it hasn't come already, there will come a time where this modern tale will have been told too many times. What will result is an irony where media is overstuffed with Westerns arguing that the Western shouldn't die out.
As the Mexican chapter wraps itself up with some dramatic and exciting set-pieces, and with Marston finally getting the better of Bill Williamson—a man he's been chasing from the jump of the game—yet, all of the excitement sort of glosses over a important fact—why and how has Williamson been hiding with Captain De Santa this whole t
[pullquote]"Thematically, both Red Dead Redemption 2 online Guide Dead Redemption 2 and The Assassination of Jesse James focus on a commune of criminals and gang members, led by a charismatic leader who the rest of the gang eventually become disillusioned with." [/pullquote]
The griefers will see you on one knee and assume "they got you" at which point they will approach to lasso or kill you. If you position yourself just right, when they get into position, you just quick draw and shoot the dynamite (or detonate it by hand). The griefer will not have the proper reaction time, as that is all but impossible, and you can't help but feel like they might have learned a life lesson from being blown ten feet in the air for trying to ruin other people's fun. Please note, this is even more satisfying if they are a whole posse, as when placed right, dynamite can easily kill five (and their hors
The two brothers who allow themselves to be physically abused to win the affection of a woman they both love is a perfect example, especially in how the last mission in their story plays out. Perfection. Or what about the people who missed the vampire in Saint De
I kept imagining that this was the type of story that Houser wanted to tell, and while Hell or High Water might have its own set of problems, it never needed to reduce anything to caricature the same way that Red Dead Redemption 2 does. This is a game that tries to desperately to show its maturity, that it's past the simple morals of fantastical and escapist gunslinger movies, and more along the lines of a "prestige" film like those of Sheridan or Dominik. Yet somehow, old Houser habits have a stubborn refusal to die, creating a product that is in odds with itself.
The handful of people who know about this trick right now feel like Gods in this game, and for good reason. Lasso griefers are the worst thing about Red Dead Online . They somehow thinking lassoing you makes them some Joker-like deity that decides who lives, dies, or stays tied up in purgatory in the back of their horses. While you can hit buttons to break free once lassoed, do you know how to keep yourself from ever being lassoed? We do. It's called a knife, and should be pretty easy to figure out (though very few ha
Red Dead Online _ is, well, something to behold. While there are elements in there that _could make this game the best online gaming experience yet, Rockstar has been slow in implementing helpful features and doing something about the insane amount of griefers that populate their western world. Nothing is more frustrating than fishing for an hour so you can get your gold and honor up, only to have some neckbeard camper wait until you reach the butcher to kill you or steal your wares. It makes the act of actually progressing in the story mode online somewhat impossible, and for people not looking for PVP gameplay, it makes for an all but unplayable and trying game experie
This is another really simple method that new online gamers or people new to Red Dead don't know, but people are killing and hunting you because you are a giant dot on their menu (and a red one in PVP). But did you know that if you crouch when you run, it makes you a small, passive, gray dot on the mini-
If people think lassoing or killing you is cool because it ruins your game, make them feel the opposite and take the joy out of trolling for them. In other words, leave chat and your mic on and when people get near you, beg them to kill you, or if they lasso you bust out reverse psychology and tell them "thank you". They are doing it solely to feel the empowerment of being an *sshole, so when you strip that element from them, you might just be surprised how quickly they collectively lose interest in you and go look for some 14 year old who will legit sob into their
