Last year could have been worse - 5 of our 10 most anticipated movies of 2009 turned out to live up to our expectations (including Watchmen, Up, and Star Trek ), while the other five ranged from mediocre ( Public Enemies ) to downright disappointing ( Terminator Salvation, Wolverine, Transformers 2 ). Of course "most anticipated" does not necessarily mean "movies we think are going to be awesome" - it's "movies we hope are going to be aweso
Of course, in order to promote the film adaptation of a hallowed comic book like Watchmen , the filmmakers have to first win the approval of fanboys. To further that end, the Watchmen movie official website scored an exclusive interview with Watchmen illustrator and co-creator, artist Dave Gibb
If there was ever a film that was suited to the twisted vision of Tim Burton, this is it. I'm not the biggest Burton fan and some of what I've seen in the trailer doesn't quite work for me (the Red Queen's head is so huge it looks cartoonish), but overall this is bound to be a feast for the senses and probably the closest a screen version will get to the source mater
Overall, what this story is about is showing how really messed up in the head people who put on bizarre costumes to go out and beat up bad guys would be if they actually existed in the real world. We're talking about your next door neighbor putting on a batsuit complete with mask and cape, going downtown and beating up people so badly that they had to go to the hospital. Sure, it sounds good in a comic book or a movie, but would you really want to live next door to that guy? Would you really feel s
Now, I am an active and vocal promoter of the film, because...[Director Zack Snyder] through all the other people working on the movie...[are] totally committed to this...If at any point I felt that wasn’t the case, I would say so. I’m not being paid just to say good things about it. There’s no point in me saying that the movie’s really good if I didn’t genuinely believe that it was really good. So within myself, I can perfectly reconcile being friends with Alan and being involved in the film in the way that I am. I hope I’m being true and faithful to bot
Whoa, that "In-superhero movie games news|https://superheromoviespot.com/ Experience" sounds crazy futuristic. So the first version of the Watchmen DVD/Blu-ray (featuring the theatrical cut and the 3 hour 10 minute director's cut) will hit stores in late July, around the time San Diego Comic Con kicks off. The second version of the DVD/Blu-ray (featuring the director's cut of the film spliced with the Black Freighter scenes) will hit stores in the fall of 2009, date
Green Hornet made it onto the list just on morbid curiosity. I'm a big fan of the 60s TV series and was hoping to see a serious take on it on the big screen. However the production has not been smooth to say the least with apparent differences of opinion between Seth Rogen, director Michael Gondry and Stephen Chow (who eventually left the production altogether), production delays, script changes, etc. We'll see what the final product looks like at the end of 2
Rorschach tells Dan his theory about a "mask-killer" (they were once partners) and Dan goes off to warn Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias (Matthew Goode) that his life may be in danger as well. Adrian is a super-genius billionaire who created his mega-corporation after vigilantism was banned. He is supremely confident and is determined to change the world for the better and bring it back from the brink of nuclear destruct
I think it's definitely worth seeing, and I'll be very curious to hear what you think of it. I really think Watchmen is destined to be a cult movie - not very mainstream, but with a smaller and very dedicated core of fans loving it as time goes
This year the task was made a lot easier thanks to our senior editor Kofi Outlaw putting together Screen Rant's 2010 movie preview , giving us a one-stop list from which to gather the biggies. While last year was a group effort, this year I've decided to pull rank and come up with the list myself, with some fine tuning help from editors Kofi and Rob Ke
I've really been dreading writing this review because frankly, I'm still not sure how I feel about Zack Snyder's big screen adaptation of the revered graphic novel (yes, I'm calling it a graphic novel), Watchm
Dave Gibbons: ...I am involved in reviewing various materials that are being produced in connection with the Watchmen movie...the motion comics...video games, new editions of the book, sculptures...I’m off in a few weeks to do a mini-tour with Zack to publicize the movie. I’m then doing a mini-tour of the UK to publicize the Watching the Watchmen book and a similar mini-tour of the US to do the same...I’ve also done pieces of licensing art, to get the definitive look of the movie characters...It’s often the case that this kind of work is done by people who aren’t connected with the original property, with the inevitable lack of authenticity and so on...hopefully my approach to it will filter through to the final products and they will be, to that degree, much more faithful to the original graphic no
